Cough in most cases is not serious, but many times disrupt our lives. This is one of the most common health problems. Cough is due to viral infection, cold, flu, smoking, asthma, lung cancer, tuberculosis etc. You feel pain in your chest when you have cough. Also, you might feel itchy throat. Instead, using medicines if you are coughing is not serious you can use ingredients from your kitchen. Always try to help yourself with home remedies. They are more effective, you are sure that there are not chemicals and you will know that your health is not in risk for negative results. Here are some natural remedies for cough:
Cough – Home Remedy and Natural Cures
Turmeric: Turmeric helps to prevent cough. Mostly it helps on dry cough. To make home remedy from turmeric you will need to heat half cap of water in boiling pot. In this water you should add one tablespoon of black pepper and one tablespoon of turmeric powder. If you want, you can also add cinnamon sticks. Add on your mix one tablespoon of honey. You should drink this mix daily until your cough is gone. Another remedy of turmeric is to make herbal tea. In this tea you should one teaspoon turmeric powder and one tablespoon of carom seeds in cap of water. This tea should be boiled until the water reduces to one-half cup. Add honey in the tea. You should drink this tea two or three times a day to help you against the cough. Another cure from turmeric is to roast turmeric root and grind it into a smooth powder. Mix this turmeric powder with water and honey and drink it twice a day. [1]
Lemon: Lemon contains vitamin C which helps to clean the infection from your throat. Lemons can be used on many ways when you have cough. One way to make syrup from lemon is to mix two tablespoons of lemon with one spoon of honey. This is healthy syrup. You should drink several times a day. Another way for use lemon is to blend lemon juice with a little honey and cayenne pepper for curing cough. After you have mixed this syrup you should drink it. One of the most used home remedies from lemon is the next: you need quarter a fresh lemon, than you should sprinkle it with lots of salt and black pepper and suck on it to feel relief. [2]
Hot tea: There is clinical evidence which has shown that drinking hot tea mixed with honey can help to your throat. You will feel relief. Menthol is most used as hot tea when someone has cough. Menthol numbs the back of the throat. It will intend to increase the relief you will feel by decreasing the cough reflex.
Honey: If you have sore throat, the best way to kill it is to use honey. In many surveys are shown that honey can relieve coughs more effectively and easy than the medicines which contain DM (dextromethorphan). There are many options to use honey. You can mix with lemon juice, herbal tea or with warm water. Honey will help soothe while the lemon juice can help you with congestion. [3]
Warm milk: Warm milk is one of the best home remedies for cough. If you want to have results in the shortest time, you should mix one hot cap of milk with one tablespoon of honey. Drink it several times a day. You will see that your cough will be gone.
Peppermint: Oil of eucalyptus and peppermint leaves are both well know as natural remedies. Menthol which is contained in the peppermint soothes the throat and acts as a decongestant, helping to break down mucus. You can choose two cures of peppermint. The first one is to drink hot tea from peppermint and the second one is to inhale peppermint from steam bath. To make a steam bath you will need to drop three to four drops of peppermint for every 150 ml of hot water. You should drape your hair with a towel and to take deep breaths directly above the water. Blend almonds: History has shown that almonds help relieve bronchial problems including cough. To make remedy from almonds you should blend few teaspoons of finely ground almonds. Mix these almonds with a cup of orange juice and sip as a natural remedy.
Cough home remedy & natural cures
Ginger: One of the most famous natural cures for cough is ginger. To make home remedy of ginger you should cut fresh ginger in small slices and crush them slightly. Put them in cup of water. You should put this mix to boil. You should drink this mix three to four times a day to feel relief from coughing. If you do not see relief, you can also add some lemon juice in it. As we said previous you should drink this mix three or four times a day. If you do not want to drink ginger tea, than you should chew fresh raw ginger throughout the day to reduce your cough. [2]
Marshmallow: It is made from Althaea officinalis. This perennial is flowering in the summer. The leaves and the root are used from ancient times to help prevent to cough. Even there are not studies to show the effect from marshmallow, generally it is considered that this is safe plant for use. You can have marshmallow root in pharmacy but this is not recommended for kids.
Thyme: In the most cases thyme is used from respiratory problems. To make remedy of thyme you should mix thyme leaves with ivecan. This mix will help you to relief from coughing and also helps for short-term bronchitis. These thyme leaves contain compounds called flavonoids that are helping to throat muscles and also lessen inflammation. Another cure of thyme is to mix two tablespoons of crushed thyme and one cup of boiling water. Cover the cup. After you have covered the cup, steep for ten minutes and strain. [5]
Garlic: This vegetable has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which are helping to organism winning the battle with cough [6]. To make remedy of garlic you should boil two or three cloves of garlic in a cup of water mixed with one teaspoon of oregano. You should allow to cold on room temperature. After this mix has reached the room temperature you should add some honey and drink it. This mix will help with your cough, relief from breathing and relief from other cough symptoms. If you do not want to drink this mix, you could eat garlic. You can eat a clove of crushed garlic mixed with few drops of clove oil and some honey for relieving your throat. Also in your meals you can use garlic to have better results.
Onion: One of the easiest home remedies for making is to cut onions. Breathing in the aroma from the onions can help you to relief you from coughing. You can also make syrup of onion. Mix baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. You should drink it daily if you want to have better results. Another solution is to mix one-half tablespoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Swallow this mix at least twice a day to relief from your cough and to soothe your throat. [2]
Hot milk with honey: If you have dry cough, you can mix hot milk with honey. It will relief you from coughing and will help you with reducing your pain chest. If you want to best result, you should drink this mix every night before sleeping. Honey has analgesic properties which help you more to win your cough. If you want to better result, you should swallow a teaspoon of plain honey on empty stomach. Honey will help you to clear the mucus and soothe your throat.
Carrot juice: Carrot has many vitamins which can help you to relief from cough. Also, carrot has nutrients that help relieve various symptoms of cough. To make fresh carrot juice you will need four to five carrots. Then, you should add some water to dilute it. If you do not like the taste from this mix or if you want added benefits, you should add one teaspoon of honey in the mix. You should drink this juice three or four times a day until your symptoms are disappeared.
Black pepper tea: Many cases have shown that brewing black pepper will help you if you have a wet cough. To make this tea you will one tablespoon of freshly ground black pepper and two tablespoons of honey. You should mix this in a cup. Fill this mix with boiling water and let steep. Then, you should cover the tea for fifteen minutes. Strain and sip this tea as you need it. This tea is working better for wet coughs because they are producing mucus and so rarely helps on dry coughs.
Cayenne: Cayenne is helping to reduce the cough and also it is warming and stimulating [7]. To make a healthy expectorant, you should mix one-fourth teaspoon cayenne pepper, one-fourth teaspoon ground ginger, and one tablespoon honey, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and two tablespoons of water. You should drink this cough syrup two to three times a day effective remedy.
