Home Remedies For Ear Infection

Ear infections are very common problems, especially among children. When the infection develops, it causes inflammation in the ear. If left untreated, the ear infection can spread causing pain, fever, and even hearing loss. Here are a few home remedies you can try to quickly cure your child’s ear infection:

Garlic – Garlic is extremely effective at fighting off any type of bacteria. Crush up six cloves of garlic and boil them in two cups of water for five minutes or until the mixture has cooled down. Strain out the clove and allow your child to drink this tea throughout the day until symptoms go away.

Salt water – Salt water is very easy to make and can be very effective in helping to clear up an ear infection. Simply add a teaspoon of salt to a cup of warm water and stir until the salt is dissolved. Use a dropper to put four drops of this mixture into your child’s infected ear. Tip their head to the side so that the solution can drain out and then use a clean cloth to dry the area off completely. Repeat this process two to three times a day until the infection clears up.

While home remedies are often very successful in curing an ear infection, it is important to remember that not all remedies will work for every person. If your child’s symptoms persist or get worse after using any of these treatments, be sure to consult with your doctor to find out if they need an antibiotic or other medication.
