Short term glories of political parties and politicians have left this nation divided on what could have been a supreme power. In India, caste, creed, background, religion and beliefs are used as artillery to create ruckus and break and shatter people.
Anyhow, time and again, many people, communities and groups have proved that they have risen above these differences and forced hatred.
One such example is of this man from Dehradun, Uttrakhand.
20-year-old Ajay Bilawalam fell ill and realized that he was suffering from leprosy. The platelets in his blood began to fall rapidly and to a dangerously low level, until he got help, from a Muslim.
Ajay needed A+ blood to survive and recover from his ailing health. Watching his son die, it was Ajay’s father who took it to social media to seek help from his family and friends and get blood for Ajay. He wrote a poignant, heartfelt post, asking people to donate blood or reach out to someone who is willing to.
It is then when Aarif Khan got the message on Whatsapp.
Upon reading the post-Aarif, who is the president of National Association For Parents And Students Rights immediately called Ajay’s father and expressed his willingness to make the donation.
When Aarif reached the hospital, he was asked by the doctors to first eat something and then participate in the donation. He then insisted that he wanted to make the donation without consuming any food since he was fasting, but doctors refused. Therefore, in order to save a life and keeping humanity above any religion, Aarif consumed whatever food was given by doctors and made the donation.
We don’t know how long will Ajay survive or how good his condition has gotten, but Aarif’s donation did buy him a lot of time and recovery that Ajay is now ready to embrace. In a country like India, where young boys and girls are killed in a religious controversy or for having consumed beef, there are people who are the face of radical thinking.
Empty promises, misguided loyalty and patriotism and pure deceit by people in power have left our nation divided and open through more pores it could manage to live with. It’s people like Arif Khan who help unite it.
