This is a time where manifesting is powerful, as you shine your light boldly wherever you go. Thus, the new moon on August 8 will provide you with all the luck and abundance you have been searching for.

This new moon is in the sign of Leo, which increases that confident Leo energy—and the feeling of luck—around you. However, it’s not just the new moon that is causing this lucky shift in your life; it falls on the same day as the Lion’s Gate portal. This is considered one of the luckiest days of the year and a major astrological event.

The Lion’s Gate portal occurs every year during Leo season, and is marked by the rising of Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. When the Lion’s Gate portal is open, Sirius moves closer to the earth and aligns with Orion’s Belt.

A new moon yoga practice for the lucky Lion’s Gate portal

This new moon yoga practice will help focus on your sacral chakra, opening yourself to confidence and receiving the luck you so deserve. This sequence is meant to be taken at your own pace. Take all the time you need for each pose.

Goddess Pose

Goddess Pose helps you to focus directly on your sacral chakra and ignite your inner power, thus creating the space for your luck and self-worth to increase.

Practice it:

Turn both your feet to face the long edge of the mat, and turn your heels in and your toes face out. Sink in your seated position until you are squatting. Place your hands at heart center, creating balance. When you feel stable enough, release your arms into a cactus formation with your elbows at shoulder height; hands facing up.

In a seated forward fold, you can allow yourself to bend and release any tension that’s lingering in your lower back and pelvis. This helps you to invite positivity into your life, starting at your roots.

Practice it:

Sit on your mat or a rolled-up blanket. Extend your legs long and gently rock from side to side to get onto your sit bones. Press gently through your heels to keep your feet flexed, but toes soft. From here, raise your arms above your head, lifting through your fingertips with your palms facing each other. Take a deep breath and hinge forward at your hips, eventually letting your arms fall next to your calves. Stay here as long as you need.

Reclined Bound Angle Pose is a more relaxing pose, but it is meant to help you open up your mind, body, and soul to all the good things you deserve in life. You can use this pose to stay still and meditate on the luck you’d like to invite into your life.

Practice it:

Lie on your mat and bend your knees while bringing the soles of your feet together. Let your knees release out to the sides of your mat, laying against the floor. If you need added support, you can place blocks under each knee. Place your hands on your belly and allow your elbows to rest against the floor. Inhale and exhale, letting your body grow heavy with each breath. Stay here as long as you need.

Stand with your feet wide apart and your legs straight. Your toes should be facing forward. Interlace your fingers behind your back, resting them on your sacrum. It’s OK if you can’t reach the floor; instead, meet yourself where you are today.
