What to Know About Juicing and Blending

There are many benefits to both juicing and blending.  If you’re not getting a good variety of fruits and vegetables, it is a great way to improve your diet.  You can add more of the flavors you like and mask those that you don’t like.  Here is what you need to know about jucing and blending.

Juicing vs Blending

Juicing extracts the liquid from fruits or vegetables and leaves the pulp behind.  The resulting liquid is very concentrated and easy to digest.  Blending mixes whole fruits and vegetables with water, yogurt, or other ingredients, to make a drink.  The pulp is part of the drink when you use a blender.  You can use up wilted, or aged, fruits and vegetables by mixing them in a blender with fresher ingredients.  You can also add other healthy ingredients, and even supplements.  There are different advantages to each method.

Nutritious

Whether you are juicing or blending, you will be getting the vitamins, minerals, enzymes and phytochemicals available from each plant.  Your body needs a good variety of these elements to function at it’s best.  If you have a health issue you want to address, you can juice, or blend, the plant food that is best for that issue.  For example, black currents contain a high concentration of vitamin C, which can strengthen blood vessles.

Hydrating

Drinking plant foods that have been juiced, or blended, will provide your body with hydration.  If you don’t like drinking water, drinking juices or smoothies, may be a win-win for you.

Storable

While it is best to drink your juiced, or blended, plant foods right away.  You will still obtain many benefits by storing your drink and consuming it later, or through out the day.

Weight Management

Drinking juice will help you feel full, especially smoothies,  and provide a variety of nurtrition that your body needs.  Depending on the type of juice, it can help you balance your blood sugar and may heal your body so that it can reach, and maintain, a healthy weight.  Blending can do the same thing if you’re not adding lots of calories through sweeteners and other ingredients.

Did this help you?  If so, I’d greatly appreciate it if you commented and/or share it on social media.
