Shopping Nova América is a mall in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the Del Castilho community. Strategically situated, connected by a walkway to the subway station of Del Castilho and the Yellow Line.
Main source of entertainment and consumption in the North Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Shopping Nova América is, after its expansion in 2014, the biggest multipurpose complex in the city with three commercial towers, 3 business floorings, a fitness center and 2 hotels with more than 420 spaces. The complex likewise has four banks, a diagnostic and imaging clinic, a lab, a popular center, a lotto, a post office, visual and well-being services and an amusement park.
A precursor, Nova América is a recommendation in the market thanks to its versatility over the years, without losing its original structure. Listed as a historic heritage, the shopping mall maintains part of the facilities of the Companhia de Telas Nova América, which was deactivated in 1991 with conventional English bricks.
Another crucial difference is Rua do Rio, an outdoor gastronomic location, with 17 bars and restaurants with the face of the bohemian area of the city. Rua do Rio was opened in 2002, 7 years after its inauguration, being the first special location dedicated to gastronomy in a shopping center in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
It has a school of the Estácio de Sá University, a company center with 154 spaces, the “Espaço Cliente”, 2 food courts and more than 300 shops.
Nova América was elected, in the survey “Marcas dos cariocas” (a survey commissioned by the paper O Globo to Grupo Troiano de Branding), as one of the 5 primary shopping mall that live in the heart of those who live in Rio de Janeiro.
Metrô Rio called the former Del Castilho Station as Nova América/ Del Castilho Station.
History.
In 1925, the Nova América material factory was born, closed in 1991. Its chimney stays on the land till today and in the memory of lots of homeowners of the northern location. In 1995, the factory paved the way to Shopping Nova América, which started as an outlet (the first in Rio) and became a regional shopping center in 2002. In October 2012, the job inaugurated a new stage: its 2nd expansion, whose job in addition to bringing 130 more shops in 2013, includes realty innovations for the 2nd half – Nova América Offices, Nova América Corporate and a job of two hotels.
