I use my period blood as a face mask – it’s the best anti-aging hack that will help you unlock the fountain of youth | Daily Mail Online

A woman who uses her menstrual blood as a face mask has claimed that it is the ‘best anti-aging practice that no one talks about.’

TikTok user Sky Fishing, from Kentucky, went viral after touting the alleged benefits of smearing period blood — a mix of blood and tissue that lines the uterus — on her skin.

‘I’m honestly really nervous to make this video, but it has to be said,’ she began. ‘All you b*****s who are so terrified of aging and doing literally everything you can except the most effective and obvious thing in the world: using your period blood for a face mask.’

The use of period blood face masks has become a growing trend on TikTok, despite the lack of scientific evidence that it is in any way beneficial.

TikTok user Sky Fishing went viral after touting the alleged benefits of using period blood as a face mask, claiming it’s the ‘best anti-aging practice that no one talks about’

Sky explained in the comments that she collects her period blood in a menstrual cup and leaves it on her face for about 20 minutes before washing it off

Sky is just one of many devotees who claim menstrual blood is rich in stem cells and micronutrients that enhance and nourish the skin.

She compared menstrual blood to women’s placentas, which are sometimes sold in bulk for scientific research or to cosmetics companies for the development of anti-wrinkle creams

‘If you are handling your period like most women are told to through marketing companies, then you’re probably just soaking it up in like cotton pads and throwing it away,’ she said.

‘If your blood is clean and you don’t have like a disease or something, you should absolutely be using it for your face and your plants.’

Sky opened up about the practice in the comments, saying she collects the blood in a menstrual cup and takes it out after a few hours.

‘You should always use fresh blood,’ she advised.

She explained that she then puts the blood in a glass container and applies it to clean skin. She lets it sit for about 20 minutes before washing it off.

‘Get yourself a diva cup, unlock the fountain of youth. THIS IS MY HILL TO DIE ON IDC!’ she wrote in the caption.

One commenter claimed that she has been smearing period blood on her face every month for years – and now her ‘husband uses it too’

Sky’s video has been viewed more than 285,000 times and received over 1,000 comments since it was posted, but not everyone was on board

The video has been viewed more than 285,000 times and received over 1,000 comments since it was posted, but not everyone was on board with the idea.

‘Yah I think I’ll age,’ one person responded.

‘Nothing could have prepared me for this,’ another admitted.

‘When I tell you I GASPED. Girl I thought u were going to say drink water,’ someone else added.

Others insisted that period face masks were the fountain of youth. One commenter claimed that she has been doing this every month for years and now her ‘husband uses it too.’

‘He’s glowing and looks amazing,’ she added.

‘I love that for him. You are a more generous woman than I [am]. But can you imagine? I don’t think y’all will ever divorce,’ Sky replied in a follow-up video.

Dermatologist Dr. Joyce Park warned against period blood face masks on TikTok last year, saying ‘you could be transmitting bacteria and viruses from your genital region onto your facial skin’

The use of period blood face masks has become a growing trend on TikTok, despite the lack of scientific evidence that it is in any way beneficial

However, experts have repeatedly warned against this dangerous trend, saying period blood face masks can do more harm than good.

Elizabeth Rimmer of London Professional Aesthetics told FEMAIL that using period blood on the face is not a proven skin treatment and it could cause ‘infection and inflammation.’

‘My advice: stay away from it and focus more on proven skin treatments,’ she said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Joyce Park posted her own video on TikTok where she also advised against the DIY period blood facial.

‘There is no way that you are collecting that blood in a sterile way, so there’s probably bacteria and sweat and other things that are in that blood,’ she explained.

‘Also, if you potentially have any infections down there, you could be transmitting bacteria and viruses from your genital region onto your facial skin.’
